Cool Cat Photo Contest
Do you have a cool cat or kitten? Whether your cat or kitten is beautiful, ugly, cute, fat, fluffy, bald, glamorous, colorful, funny, weird, or wonderful, we accept photos of all kinds of cool cats to our monthly cool cat photo contest. Send us a picture of your cat, and be sure to include lots of information about him or her, including age, sex, breed (if known), where you live, what your cat likes to do, and what your cat's purrsonality is like. Your cat could be our next "Cool Cat of the Month"!

Oliver Leroy is a 5-year old medium hair with a great, laid back personality! He was found in our backyard as a kitten, and ever since we managed to catch him, he's enjoyed a luxurious life indoors. He loves to eat and eat and eat some more, and his "hunger cries" can be heard reverberating throughout the house at numerous times of the day. When he's not eating, he's of course lounging, in all types of random positions, and fulfilling his catnip addiction. He's truly a great little guy, and definitely a handsome one at that!

We'd like to say thank you to CC and to Candy for entering June's Cool Cat Photo Contest - There were a lot of competitors last month and competition was fierce, but this cool kitten won the hearts of viewers. This is a picture of my cat, Whiskers. She is a tabby cat, the offspring of our other cat, Tabby. Whiskers likes to lie around, sneak into our house, and eat grass. At approximately 10 years old, she enjoys sprawling out on the ground and rolling around. She is pretty skittish, but she warms up to people she knows. She also has a hobby of tripping the garage door and making it go back up when we try to shut it.

Tacos is a playful little rascal! He loves to run and play with his fellow companions: Turbo Fatty, Manjaro, and Meekers. He loves to fetch and loves sleeping in the oddest places. The sink, the laundry hamper, and even in boxes! As his photo shows, his favorite pastime is butt sniffing!

Here is Sandi's letter to her rescuers:
To my heroes at Lennco,
Thank you for saving me. I do not remember much before that giant found me
(all humans are giants to me). I was cold but even more than that I was
scared. The ride to Danville was nice and I think I heard that man talking
to me to let me know that everything was going to be OK. He took me to
another scary place where they stuck me with a needle and drew blood. They
were nice and tried not to let it hurt but OUCH. They said they were
making sure I was healthy enough to join the kitties at Hal’s Haven. I
spent the afternoon in a cage and hissed at everyone that went by to let
them know I was not going to let them take any more of my blood. I was
more comfortable in that bin with the nice warm coat than I was in that
cage. After a while a lady came and put me back in the bin and took me to
Hal’s Haven. I found out later that it was my foster mom. When we got to
where we were going she stuck me with a needle – she said she was
vaccinating me so I would stay healthy – ouch again. What is it with you
humans and needles?
I am happy and safe at Hal’s Haven. I now have lots of friends – mostly
older than I am. I get mush several times per day – boy is that good - and
we have dry food available all the time. My foster mom said she would
leave the mush out for me all the time but the kittens that are a few
weeks older than I am would eat it all – apparently they are pigs.
At first my foster mom thought I was about three weeks old but after
looking at me closer she thinks I am a Munchkin and therefore just small.
She now thinks I am probably six weeks old. I am not telling because I
would have to let them know I am older than they think and everyone knows
babies get all the attention and I want to prolong that attention.
I get to go to work with my foster mom and the other babies here where we
meet all kinds of new people. We have a really cool pink condo (I must say
it is my color) with two hammocks, shelves covered with fleece to make it
easier for us to climb, a litter box, food and water bowls, a really comfy
fleece blanket and lots of toys. I can now leap tall buildings in a single
bound (oh alright maybe not but leap but I can climb to the top shelf and
I am working on leaping there). I can play “Jane of the Jungle” and hang
by one paw from a fleece covered shelf swinging wildly, or mountain
climber scaling a shear mountain (climb straight up the wire), or defy
gravity and hang upside down from the bottom of the hammock, or I can play
innocent after playing wildly and spilling everything in the condo. I
sometimes hang out on the lower hammock and try to nap but the older
kittens are awful rambunctious and keep me awake. When they finally settle
down Ratatouie (who is really funny looking because she does not have a
tail) curls up with her paw around me to nap. Ratatouie is ten weeks old
but about my size which is really small for her age.
As soon as I weigh two pounds I will be spayed (whatever that means) and
ready to find my new furever home. I will soon be listed on Hal’s Haven’s
website and you can see my story there at www.halshaven.petfinder.com.
Anyway I wanted to let you all know how I am doing and tell you thank you
for not running over me that day.

loves to play with his baby sister Mimi. His favorite thing to do is lounge around

This is my rescued kitten Gatsby. We rescued him from the South Central LA shelter and he is a domestic short haired tabby. He is a crazy kitty that loves to chase shadows and play with his kitty food. He also likes to tumble around in his pop-up cubes too! He is 2 months old and is very playful! He loves to lick and also is very loving, very eager to jump into people’s laps.

Our kitten, Cowgirl is a very special member of the family. She was found after a routine stop to the grocery store. She was in a duct taped small box meowing like mad beside our truck. With her little black & white paws, she was irresistible. After taking her home, she soon adopted the name of "Cowgirl" after he unique coloring and wild personality. She not only has become a fun playmate to our other cat, she enjoys wrestling with our pets, snuggling in the with kids and eating whatever will fit into her tiny mouth. Although she may be small and somewhat clumsy, she's the most active and exciting pet we've ever owned.

This is Maci, a 9 week old Chartreux with an attitude that goes beyond the stars. She is loveable most of the time but when it comes to play time....watch out. She's a demon! She races up and down the furniture, the staircase, and anything else in her way. She loves to attack my 10 year old Pomeranian, which he hates. I think she has no concept of the word fear. We love her bunches! I'm beginning to wonder if she is part pig with as much as she eats. This picture shows the attitude in this little missy.

This is a photo of Jakko who was dumped at our door and has never left! He ios a complete maniac, full of character and very cute! As we live on a very small Greek Island one tends to accumulate cats and Jakko is one of seven that we have adopted! Matty is one of the first we adopted when we moved here in 2005 and is a 'lounge lizard'. He and Jakko have become good mates!

This is George! He was the coolest cat ever! How many other cats do you know that could hold a sword? He was 27 lbs. of cool cat. Food, sleep and occasionally being a pillow were his favorite things. His personality was that of a very smart dog trapped in a cat's body. I'll never have another cat like him or even try to. The one cat to rule them all!

Puder is a two years old male Ragdoll who is very energetic. He loves to run throughout the house and climb up to his new cat tree at full speed. He is a very smart and has the ability to turn door knobs when locked out the bedroom. He loves to eat tuna, chicken and drinks bottled water. He loves taking pictures and poses for the camera when I dress him up in different clothes. His hobbies includes; listening to Jazz, Blues and Classical music, biting at my feet as I walk through the room, peaking through my shower curtin, and playing with the fishing pole. He is a bundle of joy and coolest cat I hang with!
